What is a custom broker?
 
Customs brokers are professionals that provide service of customs brokerage which involves clearing of goods through customs office for importers and exporters, preparation and submissions of documents, the calculation and payment on behalf of the client of taxes and duties, communication between the importer, exporter and customs office.
 

Custom brokers may be hired by freight companies, forwarders, importers, exporters and official authorities.

 

However custom brokers also may operate as an independent customs brokerage firm.

 
Usually customs brokers are licensed by the local customs authority.
